The Department of Paediatrics at GMC, Gondia strives for better child health through its work in various clinical, academic and research activities.
Vision: The primary focus of the Department is to provide children with the best possible healthcare, teaching/learning opportunities, and research opportunities, while ensuring that students and staff have access to the best possible care. The Department will work towards a vision of creating a pediatric centre of excellence in Gondia, with a focus on providing the best tertiary care available in the region. The goal of the department is to provide the best possible care for children, while providing teaching/learning opportunities and research opportunities, and ensuring that staff and students are provided with the best possible care, regardless of their sub-speciality.
Mission:
The mission of the Department of Pediatrics is to protect, promote, support and restore the health of children and adolescents.
Services:
Department provides OPD service 6 days of a week and 24 hours availability of IPD and emergency services.
Besides this parents’ counseling and community health education for newborn, infant, children and adolescent is given at different ocassions like camps .
Education: A regular and rigorous teaching program forms the backbone of the undergraduate and postgraduate training at the department.
From the 3rd semester through the 9th semester, faculty members and residents teach and train undergraduate medical students. The PG training program “MD Pediatrics” started as of the 2022 session. In addition to the usual theory and clinical courses, faculty members provide innovative and interactive learning experiences for undergraduate students through student workshops, integrated instruction, bedside instruction and skill training through the use of manikins.
Research:
The faculties and residents of the department are involved in conducting ethical and high-quality research addressing significant gaps in our understanding of common diseases in children. This also includes funded and interdisciplinary collaborative research.
